EAGLEVILLE, Pa. — A Pennsylvania man died after a fire erupted in his home.
The body of Thomas Razzi was found just before midnight Friday, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
The incident started Thursday when a code enforcement officer visited Razzi to perform a follow-up inspection of his Eagleville home after an instance of hoarding, WPVI reported.
Witnesses told police Razzi chased the enforcement officer with a gun around his property.
When police arrived, Razzi was unarmed inside home.
More officers were called in to get Razzi to come out, leading to a standoff, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Eventually loud explosions and gunfire were heard from the home. Police said Razzi and officers did not exchange gunfire, but flames and smoke were quickly seen after the blasts, WPVI reported.
The explosions and gunfire were attributed to chemicals used to make illegal fireworks and ammunition exploding. Neighbors told police Razzi sold the fireworks from his home, the Inquirer reported.
The fire ended up destroying three townhouses and damaging three others.
Neighbors said that Razzi had been acting strangely before officials arrived, and at one point was recorded on a surveillance camera wandering around at 2 a.m., WPVI reported.
While others said Razzi was quiet and friendly, having few visitors and staying to himself, the Inquirer reported.
