VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach man was arrested after his mother and the family dog were found dead on Thanksgiving Day, police said.
Police were called around 11:30 a.m. Thursday for a welfare check and found Tara Davis, 50, and the family dog dead inside the house, the Virginian-Pilot reported.
Jacob N. Davis, 27, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and animal cruelty, according to arrest records. He is in jail without bond.
Police declined to release additional details because it was still an active investigation.
