BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Here’s something to groan about as you celebrate Thanksgiving. And we’re not talking about all of that food that will make bellies full.
We’re talking about belly laughs, courtesy of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in west-central Florida. Well, not really. These jokes are corny.
The sheriff’s office, located about 55 miles north of Tampa, posted its first video in the series on Sunday, the Sun Herald reported.
Here is a sampling:
“Which side of the turkey has the most feathers?” one deputy asks as the first video kicks off. “The outside.”
The sheriff’s office posted two videos containing the jokes, and as a bonus, another video containing bloopers.
“What happened to the turkey who got into a fight?” another deputy asked, holding a football. “He got the stuffing knocked out of him. Kind of like Hernando High in the Turkey Bowl.”
The sheriff’s office fielded a football team against Hernando High School on Nov. 15 but the score was much closer than the deputy would have you believe. The law enforcement officials won 34-30 in the final minute of the game, according to a Facebook post by the high school.
Back to the jokes.
“What role do green beans play on Thanksgiving?” one deputy asks. “Casseroles.”
Even Sheriff Al Nienhuis got into the act, playing a wary straight man for an employee’s cringeworthy joke.
“Why didn’t the pilgrim want to make bread?” she asks the sheriff, who concedes that he does not know.
“It was a crummy job,” she says.
You get the idea. Happy Thanksgiving.
