Missy Elliot surprised her "amazing" assistant with a heartfelt gift that brought her employee to tears.
The "Work It" rapper shared a video Wednesday where she tricked her unnamed assistant into opening a box, claiming it contained record plaques that needed to be displayed. Instead, a gorgeous painting of her assistant's late mother holding her grandson was inside.
"My assistant thought she was opening my box of record plaques to hang up but it wasn’t," the rapper captioned the heartwarming video. "long story short she lost her mom a few years ago & her son had no pictures with his grandma at this age so I gave her this oil painting simply because She’s AMAZING."
Elliott, 49, filmed her assistant's complete reaction to the meaningful gift, from the moment the cardboard falls away to reveal the portrait.
"That's my mama," the assistant whispers after a long, silent pause and claps a hand over her mouth as she marvels over all the little details.
The video ends with the assistant giving the portrait a kiss and thanking Elliot for the "thoughtful" gift.
