U.S. advances to World Cup knockout round with win over Australia

SEATTLE, WA — The United States Men’s National Team is moving on to the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup after defeating Australia on Friday.

The U.S. earned a 2-0 victory over Australia at Lumen Field in Seattle.

The win secures the Americans a spot in the tournament’s Round of 32.

The United States also opened World Cup play with a 4-1 victory over Paraguay on June 12.

With two wins in its first two matches, the U.S. has now clinched advancement to the next round of the tournament.
