CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — It is unclear if a former north Georgia deputy will face criminal charges after being accused of creating a fake Facebook page to harass a woman that he arrested.
Former Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputy Charles Mills was recently fired for “unbecoming conduct” after being accused of creating an anonymous Facebook page called “Not so Noble” that targeted Natasha Lopez.
Cherokee County Solicitor General Todd Hayes says he can only bring charges based on a law enforcement investigation.
“I really don’t think that is an appropriate way to prosecute is by looking at Facebook and saying what’s the general population saying,” Hayes said. “Our job is to look at evidence and chase the evidence where it goes, and do the right thing based on what the evidence shows.”
Officials said Mills arrested Lopez in 2025 after entering her home without a proper search warrant last year.
After the incident, officials say Lopez used her social media page “Natasha Noble” to share details of the case and challenge the arrest, arguing it was unconstitutional.
Officials say Mills harassed Lopez by posting personal information and AI generated material about her.
Mills was previously placed on administrative leave before being fired last week.
Lopez still faces two counts of obstruction stemming from last year’s arrest. It is unclear how Lopez obstructed officers.
