FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — Preparations for rapper Rick Ross’ controversial car show and concert at his Fayette County estate are underway, but neighbors are being left in the dark.

A tractor-trailer making its way into the estate clipped some power lines near the front of the property and left many in the area without power.

According to Georgia Power, over 200 people are currently without power. Officials said they are working to get power restored, but don’t currently have an estimated time.

This comes just days ahead of Ross’ annual car show, which is scheduled for June 3, that has neighbors have been trying to stop from happening.

After last year’s event, neighbors became increasingly frustrated by the gridlocked traffic throughout the neighborhood. Some neighbors said they were unable to get to their homes for hours thanks to the massive influx of people.

Earlier this month, Rick Ross said he had come up with a plan to ease traffic gridlock and reduce the headaches neighbors complained about during last year’s show.

Ross said he wants to do right by the community and he respects his neighbors who live along Highway 279.

Despite this, the director of planning and zoning for Fayette County denied Ross a permit for his car show. A week later, Ross was informed that his permit had been approved.

In the letter dated May 26, the planning and zoning committee is also requiring the approval of the county fire marshal, off-street parking is required, and outdoor lighting for activities will not be allowed past 10:00 p.m.
