ATLANTA — More than 87,000 books that are focused on reading, music and creativity are set to be distributed to Pre-K students in Georgia.
The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning will distribute copies of “Every Amazing Song” during Georgia Pre-K Week, which runs Oct. 5-9.
The book was co-authored by Coy Bowles, a member of the Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band, and Georgia native Malcolm Mitchell, a former University of Georgia football star and Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots.
The department will provide a copy to each Georgia Pre-K classroom, as well as copies for students to take home and share with their families and caregivers.
“Every Amazing Song” follows Bowles and Mitchell aboard the Magic Music Machine as children learn about rhythm, melodies and musical instruments. The book also includes two original songs written by the authors and educational activities tied to the story.
Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs said the book gives children an opportunity to have fun while developing an interest in reading.
“Pre-K students will enjoy following the fun story line, dancing and stomping, and learning about music and instruments,” Jacobs said. “It’s a great way for our young learners to have fun in the classroom and begin to develop a passion for reading.”
Susan Adams, deputy commissioner for Georgia’s Pre-K and Instructional Supports, said the book can help teachers and families combine reading, music, movement and imagination.
“Every Amazing Song” is a follow-up to “Every Amazing Story,” which Bowles and Mitchell wrote for Georgia Pre-K Week in 2025.
Bowles said the new book brings reading and music together.
“It brings the magic of reading and the power of music together in a delightful creative adventure for kids, teachers, and families,” Bowles said.
Georgia Pre-K Week is now in its 16th year. State and local civic leaders will visit classrooms across Georgia during the week to read books to students and experience the program.
The department said the new book is designed to help children build an early interest in reading while developing vocabulary, communication skills, confidence, curiosity and problem-solving abilities.
Mitchell also has strong Georgia connection.
During his rookie season in 2016, he recorded 32 receptions for 401 yards and four touchdowns. He later caught six passes for 70 yards in Super Bowl LI, helping the Patriots rally from a 28-3 deficit against the Atlanta Falcons to win 34-28 in overtime.
