DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — A Douglas County teenager is facing vehicular homicide and other charges nearly five months after a deadly crash that happened hours after prom for Chapel Hill High School.
The Georgia State Patrol says 18-year-old Antonia Brown was driving a Mercedes on Chapel Hill Road near Rosemont Drive when she lost control of the vehicle.
Investigators say Brown was likely traveling more than 85 mph when the vehicle left the road, hit an embankment and overturned several times.
Eighteen-year-old Patience Price was killed in the crash. Investigators do not believe Price was wearing a seat belt.
The Georgia State Patrol says Brown was also likely using her cellphone at the time of the crash.
Brown was arrested this week and later released on a $15,000 bond.
She faces a list of charges that includes vehicular homicide, a seat belt violation and a violation of Georgia’s hands-free law.
