GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A student is facing criminal charges and disciplinary consequences after posting an online threat against Parkview High School.

The threat was circulating on social media when Parkview students reported the post to authorities.

School police launched an investigation and spoke with the student who shared the post. The student later admitted the threat was not serious.

In a letter to parents, Principal David T. Smith said the student will be held accountable and that threats against the school will not be tolerated.

The incident remains a violation of the district’s behavior code, and the student is now facing criminal charges along with disciplinary consequences at school.

School operations resumed as normal Monday. Smith said there is no danger to students or staff.
