SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The blustery fall winds and low humidity might feel good to some, but it also can lead to increased fire risks.

Sandy Springs Fire Marshal David Dunn says it’s important for everyone to take precautions.

“I would be very careful with any discarded smoke materials,” Dunn said. “Also, remember if you’re going to empty your charcoal grill, be sure that you douse that area as well.”

The National Weather Service has issued a special statement for most of metro Atlanta over the fire risk.

“When humidity is below 30 percent, and the wind is blowing, it can be very, very rapid,” he said.

According to Dunn, outdoor burning is also not a good idea right now due to the fire risks.
