ROSWELL, GA — Roswell residents will have another opportunity Monday night to weigh in on a proposed property tax increase.

The city has not increased taxes in more than 10 years, but officials initially proposed an increase of more than 50%.

Taxpayers raised concerns about the proposal during a crowded town hall last week.

Following that meeting, officials suggested a lower millage rate for consideration that would still result in a nearly 20% tax increase.

Some residents have expressed concerns that an increase could discourage newcomers from moving to Roswell.

Another public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at Roswell City Hall, where residents will be able to share their views on the proposal.

The full Roswell City Council is scheduled to take a final vote on the millage rate next Monday.
