ATLANTA — An investigation is underway after dozens of bullets were fired at the home of a top aide to the Georgia Secretary of State early Thursday morning.

Robert Sinners, a deputy secretary of state, said he woke up to a sound he had never heard before and later discovered his home had been hit by gunfire.

Sinners said about 30 bullets struck his home on Wellington Street.

“I went out and saw the neighbors kind of chasing after somebody and I went on my porch and realized that my entire front of my house was shot up,” Sinners said.

Police say two suspects are in custody and are facing multiple charges in connection with the shooting.

Investigators say they do not believe the shooting was politically motivated.

The shooting remains under investigation.
