19-year-old placing construction flags on busy road hit and killed by car

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — An investigation is underway after a man placing flags alongside a busy Atlanta area road for construction was struck and killed on Monday morning

The victim was identified by officials as 19-year-old Dylan Wayland.

Officers responded to the area of Lavista Road and North Druid Hills Road, where police confirmed Wayland was struck and later died from his injuries.

Police officials say Wayland was on Lavista Road south of North Druid Hills when a van left the road and hit him.

The driver remained on the scene, according to police. The driver’s identity was not released.

DeKalb County Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
