Officials continue investigating death of Ole Miss student from Atlanta

Robert Strang Family of Robert Strang confirmed he is one of the two Ole Miss students found dead over the weekend.

ATLANTA — An investigation into the death of an Ole Miss student from Atlanta is continuing.

One of the two victims who died at Ole Miss on Monday has been confirmed to be 20-year-old Robert Strang, a junior from Atlanta.

The other victim is 18-year-old Aidan Hamilton, a freshman from Englewood, CO. There is no confirmed connection between the two victims, according to officials.

Mac Haddow with the American Kratom Association, says he believes people are being misled about initial reports on the death of Strang.

“If you’re taking kratom, you’re suddenly afraid when in fact natural kratom is not implicated,” he said. “The American Kratom Association has diligently fought to keep the kratom marketplace safe.”

Haddow says the synthetic products that was purchased by the two victims are not very different from the natural kratom plant, they are federally banned substances that should not have been sold.

Kratom is an herbal extract that can act as a stimulant or sedative, depending on the dosage.
