DUNWOODY, GA — A metro Atlanta area high school football stadium is set to be named in honor of a famous alum.
Ryan Seacrest, a longtime television personality and host of American Idol, Wheel of Fortune and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, is originally from Dunwoody and a Dunwoody High School alum.
Seacrest and his family made a sizable donation to the fundraising campaign, officials said.
According to Steve Forenberry, President of the Dunwoody High School Community Association, the money will allow the school to add 2,000 seats, new bathrooms, a concession stand and a press box to host Friday night football.
“We just hit our goal of $1.5 million, so we’re excited about that and what that means for the community and the ability to build a stadium,” Forenberry said. “We’ve had this dream for a long time. It’s been exciting to see the number of families involved in the fundraising efforts.”
Officials say Seacrest Stadium will officially open for football games at Dunwoody High School in August 2027.
