ATLANTA — MARTA is hoping to receive more than half a million dollars back after officials say they overpaid a former employee earlier this year.

MARTA officials say they discovered the mistake in May and it was a clerical error.

The former MARTA employee was overpaid $614,000 in April, MARTA officials said.

MARTA officials say the custodial employee has failed to return the money. The identity of the employee was not released.

As a result, MARTA has filed a lawsuit to try to get the money back.
