ATLANTA — MARTA has agreed to a $52 million settlement to resolve a years-long dispute with the city of Atlanta.

The dispute centered on sales tax proceeds connected to the transit agency’s enhanced bus service.

A 2023 city audit found that MARTA was overcharging a designated fund.

MARTA’s board approved the settlement this week, making it a final resolution of the dispute.

Mayor Andre Dickens said in a statement that the agreement “protects Atlanta’s investment and gives the city a stronger foundation to work together on a transit system our residents and region deserve.”
