JONESBORO, GA — The Majestic Marching Cardinals of Jonesboro High School have launched a campaign to help students travel to Pasadena, California, for the 2027 Rose Parade, according to Clayton County Public Schools.
The band has been invited to perform in the internationally televised parade, which officials say would make it the first marching band in Clayton County Public Schools history to participate.
Officials also say the Majestic Marching Cardinals will be the only Georgia marching band and the only HBCU-style marching band selected for the 2027 parade.
“This is more than an invitation to perform, it’s an opportunity to represent our students, our community, our state, and the rich tradition of HBCU-style marching bands on one of the world’s largest stages,” said Lynel Goodwin, district band program facilitator for Clayton County Public Schools.
Goodwin said the goal is to make sure every student who earned the opportunity can participate regardless of their financial circumstances.
The #Road2TheRose campaign is seeking support from alumni, businesses, community organizations and individual donors to help cover travel costs.
Officials say it will cost about $3,000 per student, including transportation, lodging, meals, uniforms and other expenses.
The Majestic Marching Cardinals have previously performed at events including the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the London New Year’s Day Parade.
