COBB COUNTY, GA — An investigation is underway after a detainee died while in custody at a metro Atlanta area jail.
The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Martin Floyd’s vitals were normal Monday. However, later that night, he started experiencing a medical condition.
First responders started life-saving efforts, but Floyd died early Tuesday morning at a hospital.
His official cause of death is unknown at this time.
Floyd has been held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center since June of 2025.
