COBB COUNTY — A preserved historic farm in Cobb County will soon contain three early 1800s’ log cabins, all owned by the Power family.

The Power family operated a ferry along the Chattahoochee River, the namesake of Power’s Ferry Road.

The cabins of two Power brothers are now on the historic Hyde Farm, and they will be joined by the Power-Jackson cabin.

Owned by the Power sister, the Power-Jackson cabin was originally located on Post Oak Tritt Road and is now being restored.

Cobb Landmark’s Trevor Beemon says replacing old and crumbling logs is not easy.

“It’s a long process. There’s not a lot of people who know how to dell timbers and hew logs, and things like that in this day and age,” he said.

Visitors may get a glimpse of all three Power cabins during a November 8 event at Hyde Farm.

“Folks will kind of get to see the Power-Jackson cabin in the process of being rebuilt,” said Beemon.

Work on the Power-Jackson cabin should be done by the end of the year.
