Georgia Secretary of State cautions against placing bets on elections

ATLANTA — Ahead of the November midterms, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is reminding election workers about placing election-related bets.

Raffensperger says placing election-related bets on prediction market platforms is not appropriate.

The Secretary of State’s Office has issued guidance reminding election workers they are prohibited from making any bets.

“Its making sure we’re above board and nobody could ever question any of the actions of the people involved in the election process,” he said.

Raffensperger believes if election officials do this, it will undermine confidence and trust in the process, and his office will investigate reports of anyone violating the rules.
