ATLANTA — New grants for fighting Georgia’s opioid crisis are almost finalized.

On Thursday, the advisory commission of the state’s abatement trust fund recommended about $137 million for more than 170 projects statewide next year.

According to Tanya Jules with Georgia Southern University, their harm reduction program is getting money.

“We are working on the rural opioid harm reduction project for justice involved individuals. We’ve seen increased interest from our individuals participating,” Jules said.

The projects range from prevention to detox to post-recovery help.
