ATLANTA — Changes could be coming to the way people vote in Georgia as state officials explore options for a new voting system.
Paulding County Elections Director Diedra Holden is part of a bipartisan committee reviewing potential changes to the state’s voting system.
“I want us to come up with something first and foremost that is satisfying to our voters because they’re the ones we work for, they’re the ones we serve and that is very important to me,” Holden said.
The committee is expected to present its recommendations to state lawmakers by January.
Under a new state law, officials say Georgia is required to have a new voting system in place by 2028.
The Georgia General Assembly is expected to have the final say on whether to approve any changes.
