ATLANTA — A Georgia death row inmate convicted of killing two Cobb County real estate agents in 2003 is scheduled for another clemency hearing after his execution was postponed last December.
The State Board of Pardons and Paroles will hold a clemency hearing for 53-year-old Stacey Ian Humphreys at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Four of the board’s five members will hear testimony after one member recused herself because of a conflict of interest. A judge denied Humphreys’ effort to have his clemency case considered by a full five-member board.
Humphreys also lost a motion seeking a new sentencing trial over juror misconduct. At one point during his trial, jurors were voting 11-1 in favor of life without parole.
Humphreys was convicted of the 2003 malice murders of Cobb County real estate agents Cyndi Williams and Lori Brown.
After hearing testimony Tuesday, the State Board of Pardons and Paroles may deny clemency, issue a stay or commute Humphreys’ sentence to life with or without parole.
