FULTON COUNTY, GA — A Georgia company that raises money for charities has been accused of using its funds to support its executive’s lavish lifestyle. Attorney General Chris Carr has filed a complaint in Fulton County against SDG Impact Fund (SDGIF), its executive director Anthony Suber, and its former board member Bryan Doreian.

It is alleged that the defendants illegally distributed charitable assets and misled donors, among other claims.

SDGIF solicits donations from donors throughout the U.S. and abroad in the form of cash, cryptocurrency, bonds or other assets. It promises to donate those funds to charities selected by the contributors that advance the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

The complaint alleges that the defendant used donations to fund vacations, attorney’s fees and restitution in criminal cases, car loans and mortgages, private school tuition and other personal expenses, including Amazon purchases, clothing, groceries, pet supplies and sports equipment. The complaint also alleges that the defendants misled donors by soliciting donations without legal authorization and hiding their noncompliance with state and federal laws.

Carr is requesting the defendants to pay restitution to its contributors and a civil penalty of $5,000 per violation of the Fair Business Practices Act. In addition, he is asking the court to appoint a receiver to manage the defendants’ assets.
