EAST POINT, GA — A former metro Atlanta police officer has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of sexual assault while on duty.

Prosecutors say Richard Goodine is accused of preying on vulnerable victims, including a 15-year-old girl.

Goodine was charged with violation of oath, child molestation, aggravated battery, and sexual assault by a law enforcement officer.

Prosecutors previously said that Goodine would work to gain the trust of women and children or search them and later assault them.

Goodine was found guilty of all charges during his second trial.

Jurors began their deliberations earlier this month.
