Cobb County election officials prepare for large crowds following record early voting turnout

Cobb County Elections

COBB COUNTY, GA — Election officials in Cobb County say they are prepared for a busy Election Day after record early voting turnout, with thousands of poll workers ready to assist voters across the county.

Cobb County has approximately 525,000 registered voters, and more than 40% cast their ballots early in person or by absentee ballot.

Cobb County Commission Chair Lisa Cupid says the early turnout reflects strong voter interest in this year’s midterm elections.

“There is a lot of energy, we surpassed our numbers that we’ve had over prior years, and that’s atypical that you’ll see this kind of turn out so early for midterms,” Cupid said.

Officials anticipate large crowds at polling locations Tuesday, with approximately 1,700 residents working across the county’s 148 precincts.

Cupid says the county has enough staff in place to help ensure voting runs smoothly throughout the day.

Voters are also being reminded that Election Day voting differs from early voting because residents must cast their ballots at their assigned precincts.

“On Election Day voters must cast their ballot at their assigned polling location. Before heading to the polls, please visit My Voter Page to confirm your polling place and to review your sample ballot,” Cupid said.

Polls close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, but anyone still in line at that time will be allowed to vote.
