ATLANTA — The body camera footage has been released showing a police officer in Georgia fatally shooting a donkey.
Heehaw’s owner, Hannah Israel, said she had fought to have the body camera video released showing an officer accused of killing her beloved donkey.
“HeeHaw wasn’t charging. He wasn’t attacking. He wasn’t some uncontrollable threat. He was doing what everyone who knew him said he always did: running up to greet someone in his friendly, curious way. And for that, Officer Trenton Garner shot and killed him,” the Twitter post said.
The bodycam footage is finally out.

And now the truth is there for everyone to see.

The post went on to say “watching the footage makes this even harder to stomach. HeeHaw was a one-year-old miniature donkey, on his own property, being himself. That should never have ended with a gunshot. For weeks, we demanded answers. We demanded the footage. We demanded accountability. Now, we have the footage, and if anything, it makes the need for justice even more urgent.”
The Georgia Department of Agriculture says it is investigating.
