Atlanta Technical College breaks ground on nearly $30M makeover

ATLANTA — Atlanta Technical College is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a groundbreaking Tuesday August 11, for a major renovation and expansion of the Hank Aaron Academic Complex.

A nearly $30 million state appropriation will fund the project, representing the largest single state funding investment since the college was founded 60 years ago.

The project, which has been five years in the making, will include a Center for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Manufacturing, a Center for Film and Media Production and an expanded one-stop student services center.

Atlanta Technical College says the project represents a commitment to workforce development, student success and economic growth across metro Atlanta.

The renovation and expansion also honors the legacy of baseball legend, humanitarian and longtime Atlanta Technical College supporter Hank Aaron.

Aaron’s widow, Billye Aaron, says it is especially meaningful to see the building continue to bear her husband’s name while preparing students for careers that will shape the future.
