ATLANTA — An Atlanta police sergeant is facing family violence charges after investigators say she injured her wife during an argument.
Atlanta police say Sgt. Ashlee Maltbia-Burgess was involved in an ongoing dispute with her wife when she allegedly picked her up by the neck and pinned her between a nightstand and a bed on July 31.
Police say the incident caused injuries to the victim. The extent of the injuries are unknown.
Maltbia-Burgess turned herself in to the Fulton County Jail this week and was charged with battery and family violence.
The Atlanta Police Department says Maltbia-Burgess will be placed in a non-enforcement role while the investigation continues.
