ATLANTA — The Atlanta Police Department employee who died in a motorcycle crash in southeast Atlanta on Tuesday morning has been identified, according to officials.
The crash happened shortly after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and McDonough Boulevard.
Atlanta police say the motorcycle collided with another vehicle. Motorcyclist, identified as Moses Russ, was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital with a police escort.
Police later confirmed the motorcyclist died and was an employee of the Atlanta Police Department.
“That tragedy led to the unfortunate loss of life of one of our APD recruits, his name was Moses Russ. He was in his 16th week of training at the academy,” Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said.
There is no word on the condition of the driver of the other vehicle.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
