ATLANTA — Atlanta drivers can now tell the city what’s working, what is not working and the things that needs to change on their daily commute.

The Atlanta Department of Transportation is developing a new transportation plan that will help determine which street, safety and other transportation projects the city pursues in the years ahead.

The city is now in the “listening” phase, asking residents to share transportation problems, priorities and ideas, officials said.

If there’s a trouble spot on your commute, you can share it through an online survey, officials said. The city will then combine that feedback with its own analysis as it develops the plan.

“During the planning process, community input will be combined with technical analysis and an evaluation framework to help identify and prioritize transportation needs and potential projects,” ATLDOT officials said.

The process will move through “Listening,” “Collaborating” and “Refining” phases before the city develops its final project list and implementation strategies.

Atlanta DOT officials say the plan will guide transportation decisions in the short term and long term, looking at the needs of people who drive, walk, bike, take transit and use other modes of transportation.

“The plan will help ATLDOT identify transportation needs across the city. It will establish priorities and develop strategies, policies, and projects to address them,” ATLDOT officials said.

The plan is expected to be finished late next year, officials said.
