Atlanta-based Marcus Autism Center joins global network focused on new treatments, awareness

ATLANTA — A multi-million dollar effort could help local researchers learn more about Autism in Atlanta.

The Marcus Autism Center is now part of a new international clinical trials network focused on children with “profound autism.”

According to Marcus Autism Center Director Dr. Ami Klin, there is a great need for research focused on this community.

“This community has been truly the pride of advance science that can generate new treatments,” Klin said. “Treatments that are going to be more cost effective, so that we can increase access and more children can be served.”

Research is expected to take place at 12 sites across the U.S., Canada and Europe, according to officials.
