1 dead, several injured after incident at Six Flags Over Georgia

COBB COUNTY, GA — An investigation is underway after an incident at the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia in metro Atlanta has left at one person dead and several others injured.

According to an emergency 9-1-1 call courtesy of the crime radar app, a dispatcher said, “heading to Six Flags theme park on Six Flags Parkway. Someone has fallen off of the Goliath ride, come to the park.”

Emergency crews are responding to the scene and the Goliath roller coaster is currently being evacuated. Six Flags Over Georgia is being shut down for the remainder of the day as the investigation continues.

According to officials, Goliath is a hyper-coaster that reaches about 200 feet in the air there’s then a 12-story drop, followed by a heart-pounding race through a 540-degree spiral that elevates you, momentarily, to feel a thousand feet tall.

A spokesperson for Six Flags Over Georgia released the following statement:

“We are deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the guest’s family, friends, and loved ones. We are also providing support to the guests and team members affected. The park team and local authorities responded immediately, and we are cooperating fully with local authorities as they complete their investigation. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be sharing additional details at this time.”

The investigation is being led by Cobb County Police.
