A few Atlanta high school musicians are really living their life.

Three Atlanta Public Schools students were among a group of seven young musicians who performed in a special mini-concert with hometown rapper T.I. that was recorded for the popular NPR concert series “Tiny Desk.”

Two students from Carver Early College and one from Drew Charter School, were among those who accompanied T.I. during a nearly nine-minute concert posted online Monday by NPR Music.

The teenagers only had three days to prepare for the performance, according to a Facebook post by Atlanta Public Schools.

The young musicians participate in the Atlanta Music Project, which provides music education. The performers were: Lailah Carter, Brent Cameron, Landon Isaiah Wilkins, Nehemiah Wiggins, Nyasjah Breshay Brooks, Corey Lewis Jones Jr., and Ashley Sierra Gibson.

At one point during the recorded concert, T.I. turned to the students and thanked them for setting a “true example.”

“You are never defined by your environment unless you allow yourself to be,” he told them. “The only thing between you and your dreams is your effort.”

The students and T.I. wrapped up their performance with a rendition of the song “Live your Life,” which the rapper recorded with Rihanna.

“Trap music for life,” the rapper said, as the video ended.
