It appears that BET's iconic hip-hop show Rap City is making an official comeback.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, original Rap City host Big Tigger announced that the show was being revived. "This is not a drill," he wrote in part, before noting that "details" about the show were coming "soon."
According to VIBE, Rap City is expected to air on October 5, the same day as the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards. Rap City originally premiered on the BET in 1989 and ran until 2008. Unlike the Viacom's other popular hip-hop series, Yo! MTV Raps -- which primarily focused on mainstream rappers -- Rap City highlighted videos from mostly underground talent.
In other news, 50 Cent's latest crime drama, Black Mafia Family, has received a second-season renewal from Starz. The news comes less than a week after the series premiered on Sunday, September 26 and debuted at #1 on the Starz app. As previously noted, BMF follows the real-life story of brothers Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory, who gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in the country.
