Stockbridge City Council votes to remove Mayor Jayden Williams from office

The hearing took 10 hours. The result, a 3-1 vote to remove Mayor Jayden Williams from office.

The hearing focused on allegations of misuse of city resources and inappropriate communications with an 18-year-old.

The youngest Mayor in Stockbridge history was accused of misusing about $4000 in city funds. The city said those purchases included Lyft rides, haircuts, movie tickets, clothing, clothing alterations and restaurant meals.

The city also presented evidence regarding his use of a city vehicle. city’s policy requires city-owned vehicles to be used only for official business or emergencies.

Williams, allegedly, used a city vehicle for all but nine days between the months of January and June.

The city also said Williams spent approximately $2,600 using the city’s fuel card.

City officials say a special election will be held to choose Stockbridge’s next mayor.
