R&B singer Tank is facing backlash over a recent, somewhat controversial, interview with the ladies of Angela Yee’s ‘Lip Service’ podcast.
BET.com reports that Yee, joined by co-hosts Stephanie Santiago, GiGi Maguire, and Lore’l, began the interview with a discussion on the “myriad of excuses men will come up with when they know they are in the wrong.”
When asked whether he thought her ex -- who per Yee’s description was a “terrible liar” -- was in the wrong, Tank replied, “He’s not a liar. He just lied twice.”
Yee then fired back, asking, ‘wouldn’t that then make you a liar for, you know, lying?’
That is when the conversation took a sharp turn, with Yee expanding on her question and asking Tank whether a man engaging in man-on-man ‘action’ would define his sexuality.
Tank disagreed, affirming it does not “necessarily make a man gay” if he performs sex acts on another man one time, BET.com reports. “Although, he did admit ‘twice [would be] excessive,’” BET’s Danielle Ransom adds.
“It doesn’t mean he’s gay,” Tank said of a hypothetical one-time sex act between a man and another man. “The art of being gay is being gay. It’s a continuous state of being.”
