Deadline reports, Michael Jackson’s story isn’t over just yet.

Following the blockbuster success of Michael, Lionsgate says a sequel is officially moving forward. Studio chairman Adam Fogelson revealed that Michael 2 is expected to begin production by the end of this year or early next year, with a target release in late 2027 or early 2028.

The sequel is expected to pick up where the first film left off, exploring the next chapter of the King of Pop’s life. Jaafar Jackson is expected to return in the title role, although additional casting and production details have not yet been announced.
