While Salt-N-Pepa fans gear up for the iconic hip hop duo’s new BET reality show “Ladies’ Night,” Cheryl ‘Salt’ James is getting candid about her divorce.

In an exclusive interview with theJasmineBRAND, James opened about the split.

“It was me trying to fill someone else’s void,” the outlet quotes James as saying. “And I didn’t realize that I was doing that.

“Sometimes we make ourselves small to fit in someone’s box and accommodate them.”

James adds, “A lot of times we do that with men. And when I was coming out, it was a long process of me coming out of the dark part of being divorced.”

theJasmineBRAND reports that the rapper credits her faith and her friends like Sandra 'Pepa' Denton for helping her get through that time.
