Jeezy’s fiancé Jeannie Mai received backlash from fans last year when she confirmed her relationship on Instagram. Fans were quick to remind the rapper about Mai’s offensive ‘dark meat on the side’ comment she made on The Real in 2014 during a conversation about loving men of all cultures.

“I loved Black guys. For me, dark meat on the side; white keeps me mean and lean. You know? That’s why I married a white man. That’s what I like.” She said in 2014 on The Real.

According to BET, Jeezy opened up about Jeannie Mai’s controversial comments in a recent interview. The rapper mentions that he discussed Mai’s comment from The Real with her before they started dating. Read more about the story here.

Jeannie Mai began dating Jeezy in November 2018. The rapper proposed to her in April amid the coronavirus pandemic.
