Shaquille O'Neal is a big guy with a big heart to match.

Shaq was shopping for a pair of earrings when he noticed a young man agonizing over how to finance an engagement ring for his girlfriend, so the seven-foot-one basketball legend paid it off himself.

The generous act was even caught on video.

"I seen the guy come in -- he was just so shy," Shaq explained during an NBA postgame show. "He was saying, 'Hey, how much do I owe to pay off my ring.'"

"And I was like, 'My man, how much is the ring?' I'm not going to say the amount, but it's not a lot for me," he added.

Shaq then pulled out his credit card and paid for it right on the spot.

Says Shaq, "I'm just trying to make people smile...That's all."
