Kobe Bryant took home an Oscar over the weekend for the short film “Dear Basketball”. The NBA star also references comments made by Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who suggested that basketball players should not comment on politics. During Kobe’s acceptance speech he says, “As basketball players, we’re told to shut up and dribble. I’m glad we did a little bit more than that.”
After his win several people took to social media to say that Kobe winning an Oscar is wrong. A man tweeted, ‘Kobe Bryant winning an #Oscar in the year of #metoo is the best irony I’ve ever seen.’ Another added: “I’m so beyond pissed that Kobe Bryant won an Oscar. After what he did? After a rape settlement? In this Climate? With #metoo and #timesup?”
