Former Basketball Wives star Brandi Maxiell has reportedly been hospitalized after facing severe COVID-19 complications.  In a statement obtained by The Shade Room, Maxiell's sister, Jayde Penn, shared details about Brandi's condition.

"My sister has been diagnosed with a severe case of COVID-19 and was hospitalized Thursday night after having trouble breathing," Penn said. "We would like to ask everyone to please keep her in your prayers as she continues to fight through this. We love you all and please stay safe!"

Maxiell starred on the LA edition of the VH1 series from 2014-2016, where she used her platform to share information about her battle with ovarian cancer. She was diagnosed in 2007 and underwent surgery and several chemotherapy treatments before going into remission in 2009.

DJ Duffey, Maxiell's best friend who also appeared with her on the reality show, shared a photo of Brandi on Instagram, asking for prayers for her "sister."

"Wherever you are right now, just uplift her in prayer please," Duffy wrote in the caption.
