Original ‘Avengers’ ink their place in cinematic history

They’ve been there from the beginning, and now they have matching ink to make their connection in protecting the world, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, permanent.

Five of the six Avengers took a page out of the “The Lord of the Rings” playbook and got matching tattoos.

Robert Downey Jr. said it was all Scarlett Johansson’s idea.

“She and (Chris) Evans did it in New York. Then their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did (Jeremy) Renner, and then we just bullied (Chris) Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it,” Downey told Entertainment Weekly.

The only one not to be part of the tattoo group was Mark Ruffalo.

But the there was a sixth person in the tattoo chair -- the artist himself -- who had each of the five Avengers stars make a line on his version of the stylized Avengers symbol.

“Each of us contributed to giving the tattoo artist the sixth tattoo that he designed for us. By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess,” Downey told Entertainment Weekly.

The “Avengers” cast isn’t the only one to get the same ink after filming was complete. The cast of “The Lord of the Rings” also got matching tattoos more than 10 years ago of the number nine written in elvish. Even Sir Ian McKellen and Sean Bean got into the act, to mark the end of the epic trilogy, Entertainment Weekly reported.

“Avengers: Infinity War” has made more than $1 billion in theaters so far, The Washington Post reported

“Jackson is accused of trying to extort an undisclosed amount of money from Hart between Aug. 25 and Aug. 30, 2017,” the D.A. announced. “Jackson allegedly had a videotape of the actor with a woman in Las Vegas and then is accused of trying to sell the recording to numerous celebrity news websites.”

Prosecutors are recommending bail be set at $100,000, and if convicted, Jackson faces a max sentence of four years in county jail.

Last year, Hart apologized to his pregnant wife, Eniko Parrish, and his two children in a social media video, revealing that someone was allegedly trying to extort him for a sexually suggestive video. The FBI was reportedly investigating the alleged extortion attempt.

“I’m guilty, regardless of how it happened and what was involved, the (expletive) that I can’t talk about, I’m guilty. I’m wrong,” Hart said in an interview with the Power 105.1 FM show The Breakfast Club. “It’s beyond irresponsible. There’s no way around it. That’s Kevin Hart in his dumbest moment. That’s not the finest hour of my life. With that being said, you make your bed you lay in it.”

At the time, model Montia Sabbag came forward at a press conference, identifying herself as the woman involved with Hart and saying, “I am not an extortionist. I had nothing to do with these recordings.”

“I did not know he was married,” model Sabbag told Daily Mail TV in 2017. “I found out after we already had been together. So I did not know at first.”

She added, “The way he was acting didn’t seem like he was married.”

MoviePass brings back movie-a-day monthly plan

MoviePass, a subscription-based movie ticketing service, is bringing back its popular movie ticket per day subscription plan.

Wired reported that the company made the decision two weeks after the offer was removed from its website. The plan allows customers to see a movie a day each day for $9.95 a month.

“We never planned to abandon the flagship product that everybody loves,” MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe said in an interview, according to Variety. “Any time we’ve done a promotional package, we’ve taken the monthly plan off our site.”

The promotional package that led to the removal of the plan was a $29.95 three-month plan that allowed viewers to see four movies a month. That promo began April 13. It also offered a free trial of an on-demand music streaming package.

“It’s marketing 101,” Lowe said. “We wanted to focus everybody on this partnership promotion. If people knew the (movie-a-day) plan was coming back, they might not be interested in the (music streaming) deal.”

Despite the plan’s popularity, the company has added some stipulations. It will no longer allow users to see the same movie twice under the plan. According to Lowe, the rule change is to prevent fraud among customers who share one card among family members or scalp tickets.

According to the MoviePass website, over 2 million people are subscribed to the service.
