Thirty-two-year-old Monae, who moved to Atlanta in 2001 and recently released her critically-acclaimed third solo album, “Dirty Computer,” will be joining stars Leslie Odom Jr. and Jennifer Nettles in the biopic. But according to Vulture, her role is “so-far unspecified.”

“Harriet” will be directed by Kasi Lemmons, who co-wrote the screenplay with “Remember the Titans” writer Gregory Allen Howard.
