The New York Giants fired coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese as the team struggles this season, the New York Post reported Monday.

McAdoo, in his second season as the Giants’ coach, was in the middle of a disappointing 2-10 season and had come under fire for his mishandling of the benching of quarterback Eli Manning. He went 11-5 with New York in his debut season but leaves with an 13-15 overall mark, plus an 0-1 record in the postseason. His 29 games as head coach is the shortest stint since Earl Potteiger’s 26-game tenure in 1927-1928. The last time the Giants fired a coach in midseason was 1976, when Bill Arnsparger was dismissed after an 0-7 start.

The Giants have not fired a general manager since 1978, the Post reported. Reese has been with the organization since 1994 and has been the head of football operations since 2007.

The Giants named defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo as interim coach and assistant general manager Kevin Abrams will replace Reese for now, the Post reported.

McAdoo joined the Giants from the Green Bay Packers in 2014 and was the team’s offensive coordinator for two seasons before replacing Tom Coughlin before the 2016 season.
