Thanksgiving Fliers Will Be Stuffing Security Lines

If you plan on flying out of Atlanta next week--good luck. WSB's Jon Lewis reports airport officials expect you will have a lot of company at the security gates.

"Up to 1.7 million travelers will be going through the facility," says Hartsfield-Jackson General Manager Louis Miller.

On a typical Tuesday or Wednesday, some 35,000 fliers go through the Atlanta airport. During the Thanksgiving week, the number jumps almost sky-high by comparison.

Tuesday, November 22 will be the first peak day.

"The forecast of originating passengers is as high as 54,000," says Miller. "And on Wednesday it's 57,000."

All 22 security gates will be open around the clock during the holiday season's operating hours.
