Only eight days in, and we officially have July's A-list breakup. Hollywood hunk George Clooney and his model-wrestler-actress girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, have officially ended their two-year relationship.
In reporting the news, People cites a source close to the duo who says that Stacy was the one who did the dumping. "She wants to have children and a family someday," the source says. "She knows where George stands on that."
"They talked and they quietly stopped being a couple several weeks ago."
But the insider also says that George and Stacy are still friends and will remain so, dishing that the breakup was amicable and that the two still talk "every day."
Breakup rumors for the couple have been circling for a while now but intensified in the past few months. A source said that the end was near back in March, a report surfaced in May that that George was holding hands with an ex, and the two just spent the Fourth of July apart.
Stacy, 33, has kept a relatively low professional profile recently, though she did make appearances on comedies Men at Work and NTSF:SD:SUV last year.
Meanwhile, George, 52, has outer-space thriller Gravity coming out in October and the docu-drama The Monuments Men in December. He's also starring in Disney's secretive Tomorrowland project.
We're awfully sorry to hear about the split, but we're optimistic they can be the best of exes!
